Good morning,
As many of you are aware, Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is the billing agent
for the Illinois State Library for Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) services. This
email is to inform you that at approximately 4 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2019, the
company that provides IHLS with support for the financial software used for OCLC billing
was infected with a virus. This virus spread to servers that support our billing for OCLC
at IHLS. Our IT department was able to remove the virus and the root cause of the attack.
The system is back to normal with all of our data intact. We are very confident that no
financial data was stolen or accessed. However, the only data that could have been
accessed was our customer information files. This may include your name, email, and
business mailing address that was listed in our customer files. We do not store any bank
or credit card information in our software or electronic files.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Rhonda Johnisee
